I installed a Hampton Bay 52" Oakley ceiling fan with a 12" downrod on a 4/12 pitch ceiling. With the hanger bracket installed, I put the fan motor and downrod assembly in the ceiling bracket and wired it. When I slid the ceiling canopy up in place, there was a little interference with the downrod, but when I slid the canopy cover into place on the screws, the downrod and motor are not plumb and level. I can't believe these fans will not work on this shallow pitched ceiling. Must be a simple answer.

Do you have the notch UP and is dimple in socket slot?

I figured out the problem, #1 the light box needs to be mounted with the screws at 3 o'clock & 9 0'clock position. Then when you mount the hanger bracket, the opening in the bracket needs to be in the downhill position allowing free movement of the downrod, and it all hangs on the centerline. I hope this help's the do-it yourselfers like me.

It should move freely regardless, but it is best to have the downrod tab parallel to the ceiling slope.
