I just received a garnishment notice. It is on a bank account for an LLC in Minnesota. I am a signatory on the account, but it is truly not my money. The incoming money is from tenants who are paying their rent. I just write the checks to pay the mortgage payments for my employer. Any thoughts on this matter?
Thanks!

By the way, the garnishment is for an old credit card judgment. I have no income. My employer is giving me free rent for work.

As long as the bank account was set up as a business account, under the LLC name, using the LLC tax ID there should be no problem.

Thanks for the info! I checked the account online and it still seems to be in tact... I would think that if they were able to take the money it would be gone before I got the letter. Your information supports this hope as the account is in the business name and has a business EIN.

Would you recommend that I call the bank or do anything on Monday? The notice came in Friday's mail so I have been stresses about this all day!

Thanks!
