Thank you in advance for your help!

I have an icky sewer smell coming from our main bathroom shower. It is used every day once. I've tried the bleach then hot water trick - three times. I've also tried chemical solutions. It seems to vary in intensity but I can't figure out what causes it. It's a stall shower so there's no tub drain.

As it's an older apartment complex, and the complex has a shared water system, is this something I can fix or do I need to call someone? My landlord is not particularly responsive and is likely to tell me it's my imagination. I'm willing to pay a plumber myself, if necessary, if it can be fixed from my apartment. Any ideas?

Thank you!

U either need to call a plumber and she what is wrong or forget the land lord and find another apt.

I think that you should asure that your shower drain pipe is connected to the bathroom floor drain, and not connected direct to the bathroom main drainage line. Simply let water flow in shower and inspect the floor drain.
If it is not connected to the floor drain, it should be fixed to be connected to the FD.
In case you fined it connected to the FD, the shower drain line then may need some chimicals to refresh its inner.

Wish to be helpful, thanks

If you are sure the odor is coming from the shower try adding about 4 cups of water to see if the smell stops. If it does it means the vent stack is block and needs rodding from the roof. If the smell does not stop it could be rotting hair and body oil. Mix 1/2 cup of table salt with 1/2 cup baking soda and dump into the drain hole followed with a cup of vinegar. Allow to soak overnight and flush with a big bucket of really hot water.
