Whenever I bath or shower, whether I use any product from sensitive skin shower gel, to normal shower gel to soap or to no products whatever so ever, as in literally just me and water... as soon as I get out the shower or bath I itch from head to toe all over, including my hair, eybrows, soles of my feet... everywhere! There is no rash as such just constant itching that can last for hours and drive me that insane it leaves me in tears. Sometimes it can be really bad and sometimes it can be just mild. As I have a bath or shower everyday it occurs everyday and when its really bad, it stops me from living a normal life as I have to sit and itch for anything up to five hours.

I have been to the doctors and they are not in the slightest interested in it at all. They say I need to eliminate products or foods etc to work out what it could be... they do not understand I cannot eliminate WATER. However it does not occur if I wash my hands or drink water.

Can anyone helps it is getting me so incredibly depressed!

Could you possibly be taking to warm of a shower/bath... it happens to me if I use water that is to hot. I have really sensitive skin and can not use a lot of different products.

Are you sensitive to all types of water, pool, river, ocean etc... or is it just from your water from the house?

Also you may want to try a water softner.

I would also recommend going to see a dermatologist instead of a md if you haven't already. Take some pictures of your skin after your shower, that will at least give them an idea of what it does to your skin.

I have seen a skin condition on some of the talk shows of peple being allergic to water... but normally it causes blistering to different degrees. I think this is it. The Girl Who was Allergic to Water | The Derm Blog (http://thedermblog.com/2008/03/18/the-girl-who-was-allergic-to-water/)

Thanks for your quick reply. Yes I do have very hot water, I love a nice HOT bath, maybe I could try cooler water, thank you. In answer to your question, I have only been to see a doctor about it, however my skin does not change, it does not blister or even go red, only red from me itching it. It occurs in the swimming pool, which suggests it could be chlorine, however I have not always had this problem and I wonder if it is something in which can just develop over night. I am sure its not water, as I can drink it, wash my hands in it, and it does not really occur when I wash my hair, if I do it over the sink or bath for example, as oppose to actually in the shower.

Thanks again, I shall try a cooler bath"

Hi there, I can feel that how hard it might be for you as I have gone through this for more than 7-8 years. Though, I never itched for that long after showering but would be for long enough. I can only recommend you to shower hot/cold water (mixture of two), surely not very hot as you have mentioned. I would also recommend to apply some olive oil before and after shower. This will surely smoothen your skin and keep itching away. Oil are very natural for the skin and can do a lot more than soaps or shower gels. Don't even have to use a lot of soap if you us oils as they are natural cleansers and will keep you clean. I am no skin doctor but giving you tips out of personal experience. Hope this helps and gives you some relief. I surely helped me, hope it will help you too.
