When I started this project I was looking at running #6 TTHN in 1" conduit. But many of you feel #4 would be more acceptable for a 60amp sub-panel at 120-150 feet away.
So......
Now, I am looking at 11/4" Conduit and 4-#4 wires(2 hots #4, 1 Nuetral #4, and #4 Ground) I could probably size the ground down, but in the scheme of the overall project the cost is minimal.
I have pull wire through smaller Emt(eg. 1" #8) but have never pulled #4 thru 11/4" EMT for this long of a pull.
My question is--I would suspect I would need j-boxes in the raceway because to pull that size wire 150' feet is going to get interesting. My bends from the service panel to house center will entail 270 degrees of bending. Then I have 120 feet of straight with no bends and to finish with a 90 degree at the end into a QO Sub-panel box.

Would I use J-Box every 50'? Or what would be your suggestions to make my pulling easier?

Use wire lube and have a good helper.
A #4 ground is WAY overkill! NO reason AT ALL to have that. Use a #8 with the #4 feeder.


What is your load at 120'? I think #4 is overkill.
If you use #6 then a #10 ground is all you need.
