Yesterday I visited my dentist and he did a root canal on a tooth and it still hurts like crazy. I've had a partial root canal with another dentist but never finished, now my current dentist said he had to undo the partial root canal. But I thought the pain would have worn off by now but it didn't. Has anyone experienced pain after 24 hours of having a root canal or is this normal?

Was the tooth bothering you before the root canal was done? Why did your dentist say it had to be redone? Was there infection showing at the tip of the root on the x-ray? If there was infection present you may need an antibiotic to clear it up. In the meantime, take some Advil as directed on the package. This is an anti-inflammatory and pain reliever.
You should let your dentist know you are experiencing this pain.

I work as a dental nurse myelf and I have had plenty of root canals done. I have never had pain for 24 hours and you shouldn have to. I only had my pain for like half an hour or less. Root canal treatment is taking out the nerve and because he has disturbed the nerve and the tooth the gum is going to get irratated and its normal to feel pain but being that you said you had it for 24 hour go see a dentist
