We had hardwood floor (5/16 Brazilian teak) installed on our cement slab. The store salesperson told us that we cannot have the traditional ¾ hardwood on cement, but that 5/16 will work. We hired an outside installer who installed the floor (about 1,200 SQ).

Since then (it was installed a few months ago) we had one issue after the other. The floor keeps on “coming-up”(unglues and pops) in different areas in 2 of the rooms (the other 2 rooms hold fine so far for some strange reason). The installer came back 3 times to replace some of the planks, but other areas showing the same signs on “ungluing”.

1. Did the store misinform us about installing hardwood on cement (do I have a case against the store for misinformation?)
2. Is there anything that we can do to repair it? I am running out of extra wood and the style was discontinued.

I believe you were either misinformed by the store or the installer did not put in down correctly. Floors on concrete slabs should float or be installed on a suitable sub-floor (plywood or furring strips) with a vapor barrier or marine grade plywood. Engineered flooring should be used on below grade slabs. You'll get lots of advice and opinions on this, lets hear what others have to say.

Your installed should have advised you that the hardwood floor would not be suitable over a bare concrete floor. The hardwood is apparently wicking up any kind of moisture out of the concrete floor and is warping in record time. If I were you I would have the entire floor taken up and properly reinstalled before all the hardwood warps and is unusable and a total loss. I would call the store that sold you this and speak with the owner and relay your problem before the problem gets worse and you loose the entire floor. The store owner may help you out. If they don't consult an attorney and sue them.
