My 9 month black lab has got one really bad tooth. He has nylabones that he chews on a regular basis only on one side of his mouth. The other side seems to have everything stick to it. One tooth in particular is really bad in terms of plaque on it... any suggestions for keeping his teeth clean?

You can buy doggy tooth paste. The foamy people stuff isn't good for dogs. Wrap some gauze or terry cloth around your finger and put some of the tooth paste on it. Rub it around the gum line and give more attention to the one tooth. They make special, soft toothbrushes for dogs too. If it is discolored rather than dirty, the vet should look at it. Are all of his canines angling out and clearing the gum?

Hi,
I agree with having the Vet look at the tooth. If he is not chewing on that side, then something is wrong.
Here is a link with some good teeth cleaning tips:

If you wish to view it, it has both puppies and adult dogs.
I do wish you and him the best, and I hope the tooth gets better.
