My daughter is getting married in about 2 weeks. To bluntly put this, she has a very big problem having her step-father walk her down the aisle because of issues between him and the fiancé. She feels he does not like the fiancé and she does not want him to give her away to him. Is this common and how, if at all, can I fix it before the wedding. The step-father is very hurt over this and just doesn't understand the problem. HELP!!

You can't fix it. Stay out of it. The step-father has been the on-site father for quite some time, so she has to decide this for herself. It is HER wedding, too. This whole day is about her, not you or the stepfather, it's only mildly about the groom.

It's her day. It's her issue. Stay out of it, abide by her choice. Do not counsel her about this, it is dynamite.

My dad passed in 2001
. When I got married in 2004 my uncles walked me down the aisle, not my stepdad. There are issues between us because of his attitude toward me, my family, and my husband. My mom respected my wishres

Hi Kathy,

I agree with JB and Cameleon, very good advise.

Just wondering? What if you walk her down the isle? Mom and daughter? Just a thought...

Thank you. I, the Mom, will be walking her down and giving her away. I, unlike him, adore the groom.
