Hi guys,

I just got this car a few weeks ago. It's a 1997 Honda Civic LX 5 speed. This problem has only happened twice so far but I want to fix whatever is wrong before it becomes a big problem! When I go to start the car it sounds like it is going to catch but it doesn't. Both times I stop turning the key, wait a second and try it again and it starts right away. All of the power is working when this happens. Other times when I start the car it will start right away. Any ideas what can be causing this? Thanks in advance for the help!

. Replace the fuel filter:

. Go over the ignition system, if the problem persists. Consider replacing spark plugs (NGK only), rotor, and distributor cap. I would also test/replace the Ignition Control Module (ICM) and coil. Here's how:

ICMs and coils are problematic components on Hondas.
