OK I messed up, I have my first court date tomorrow and I kind of have other plans than to wait around Washington until my case is closed. What should I do? This is my first offense and first spot on my record. I have never had anything so much as a parking ticket, I want to join the navy like yesterday but I am unable with this case being open.
I need things sped up.
I do know I am not going to jail or prison for the next couple years. But the amount was around 150 stolen.
Should I plead not guilty and have it drag out for a possible lighter sentence? Should I plead guilty and will that speed things up? And it can be done with right there and then?
I don't have a lawyer. With this offense I didn't see a need to spend the money on a private attorney or a publuic defender even.
What do I do??

I will stay up as long as I can tonight hoping for a reply on advice. My hearing is at 9 am in spokane wash.

Here is my opinion. Go to court and if you are not guilty then plea that and if you are guilty then it will go quicker but you might go to jail right then and there or since it is your first affiance you might just get a fine and some probation and maybe community service but not matter what you think, it is a good idea to get a public defender if you qualify for one they are free if you are not making too much money, either way you should have some kind of legal counsel at your side.

Well if you have confessed then they know you are guilty so don't plead not guilty then it will be worse because they will know you are lying and because you are guilty you might go to jail tomorrow but you will probably be released very quickly because I do believe it is a misdemeanor.I am not to sure about Washington but her in Oregon I think that is a misdemeanor and it should be there also.

You do not want this on your record for the rest of your life. You want an attorney. With an attorney, even a public defender ( that you don't pay for, if you qualify) can often work out a deal where if you do community service the charges gets dismissed ( and pay court costs)

Take your time and do what is best for you 3 or 5 or even 10 years from now.

But if I have an araignment tomorrow then how can I get a public defender by then?
I just want this to be over with as soon as I can.
I wonder what kind of time I am looking at..
Oh and it is a misdemeanor anything under 250 is I guess.
So ill plead not guilty? And buy time for myself to get a public defender. And then make a deal?

One more thing before I check this in the morning before my araigment
If I was never taken into custody..
And never arrested before.
I won't be arrested after the arraignment if I plead not guilty..
Just wondering if I will have a surprise for my parents.
"haha yeah im calling from jail.. you guys can bail me out or ill see you in a month when my next court date is."
Lame
I'm just wondering if I may have to post bail?
Its not like I'm a threat or anything..
