My Kenmore washer model 110.26902692 will not stop filling the machine upon reaching the selected water level---it will fill past overflowing if allowed. I have moved the water level control switch through the various settings, the temperature control through its settings and the timer/controller through its various cycles without any impact. The only way I can make it stop filling is to move the timer/controller into the "rinse" area of the cycle. It will then stop filling and agitate, drain and spin out the water. However, when it gets to the point where fresh rinse water is to be put in, it again just keeps filling and filling and filling.

I've searched Sears "Direct Parts" site for any component that sounded as if it might be connected with the water filling function but cannot find a likely part candidate. One problem is I don't know how the machine determines when to shut off the incoming water based on the selected water level. It seems like there must be a defective sensor but I don't seem to see such a part listed.

If anyone can share any information on how the water filling function works on these machines and/or point me in a direction to find the possible defective washing machine component that needs replacing it would be appreciated.

I had the same issue and this is the advice I received here: There is usually a pressure switch connected to the tub by a rubber tube located at the back of the machine, this could be blocked or it could need a new switch. That tube could also be cracked and can't hold enough presssure to trip the switch. Try pulling it off at the tub end and blow air by mouth to see if you can trip the switch.

I ended up getting a new machine because mine was old and they were on sale.

Amricca and Esquire1 -- thanks for the information. I'll be able to take a look at the machine this coming weekend and hopefully get it working soon. I'll post an update once I have the problem resolved.

I've had the problem with the water overflowing. I found out that I did not have the dial directly on the setting but had it in between. I guess I was in a hurry. But when I placed the dial directly on the setting I wanted I never encountered the problem again.
