My Kenmore washer model 110.26902692 will not stop filling the machine upon reaching the selected water level---it will fill past overflowing if allowed. I have moved the water level control switch through the various settings, the temperature control through its settings and the timer/controller through its various cycles without any impact. The only way I can make it stop filling is to move the timer/controller into the "rinse" area of the cycle. It will then stop filling and agitate, drain and spin out the water. However, when it gets to the point where fresh rinse water is to be put in, it again just keeps filling and filling and filling.
I've searched Sears "Direct Parts" site for any component that sounded as if it might be connected with the water filling function but cannot find a likely part candidate. One problem is I don't know how the machine determines when to shut off the incoming water based on the selected water level. It seems like there must be a defective sensor but I don't seem to see such a part listed.
If anyone can share any information on how the water filling function works on these machines and/or point me in a direction to find the possible defective washing machine component that needs replacing it would be appreciated.
