My basement walls are made of masonary blocks and water leakes through them. What can I do to stop the leakes?

WET corp,( Waterproofing Engineering & Technologies) has just what you're looking for. First you coat your walls with #1050 Conseal Primer then with #1000 Conseal to water proof that leaky basement. You can check out their web site at; http://www.wetsealers.com/products.html Just click on this or paste it up on your address bar. If you have a large amount of water in your basement consider installing a sump pump to move the excess water. Good luck, Tom

One thing to consider is putting in a French drain system to divert the water away from the block. Another option it so grade the land away from your house. If this is all too much work UGL has a wonderful inexpensive product called Dry-Lock, it can be purchased at many DYI stores. I would try these befroe sinking in a sump pump. Much less expensive depending on your terrain.

Products like Dry-Lock or other types of sealants might be an inexpensive way to temporarily solve a leaking basement problem, but it is not a permanent fix. Paints and sealants do not address water around the foundation which produces hydrostatic pressure. The pressure will eventually push through the concrete. The best way to solve the problem once and for all is to go with a perimeter drainage system and a sump pump on the interior of the basement. Here are some ideas on products: Basement Waterproofing Products - sump pump, drainage system, dehumidifier, basement wall, basement floor (http://www.basementsystems.com/basement_waterproofing/waterproofing_products/)
