View Full Version : How about a get-together for all of us!

Hi Everyone,
I want to start this post by again expressing my heartfelt thanks to all of you. My breakup has been so very hard, and if it wasn't for this site and each of you here, I honestly don't know how I would manage. Your advise and friendship is priceless.
I feel like I know all of you personally, even though we have never met face to face. And I think many (if not all) share this same feeling. Well, with that being said, how about we plan a get-together! I realize that we all live in different parts of the world, which that in itself is so great, but perhaps we can maybe plan a 'party' at some sort in a place that would be centrally located (thank you to 'Damaged' who suggested that idea :) ) for everyone. I know this will require a great deal of planning, but that can all be discussed over time.
I would love to hear everyone's feedback, suggestions, comments on this.
Thanks again!

I would love to do this as well!
Where are some of you from? Maybe we can see where a majority of people live and make a compromise and have a central location like said above...
Any of the Ultra members have any suggestions/ideas?
BTW I live in California

That sounds great to me too. We usually meet in the Lounge on this site and have a bit of Virtual Fun!
I live in Germany and not able to travel in the near future due to my illnesses, but you all know that I will be with you in spirit if not in body - -anywhere - I'll be there!
After all, you are my Cyber-Family!

That sounds AWESOME!
I'm single, got some cash, very flexible schedule.
Basically... Pick the dates and place and I will be there!
Japan, Australia, England, Germany whatever... I'm there.
How cool would that be? Great idea!
I live in the Northeast corner of the USA.

Forgot that I was there too. From Heathrow on a train to Edinborough to see the Military Tattoo with all the bagpipes. That was wonderful!
No matter what the weather, as long as the company is good, the time is good!

What could be better to get over a break-up than to plan an event like this?
And with all of us at the party... WOW!
Now that would be some serious therapy... Ha Ha

We should meet somewhere in the middle of the US or more towards the east side considering that most of you are from there.. is it expensive to fly to that area from California? I really think this would be so cool to do.. we could all wear name tags of our screen names! Lol..
Anyone else think it's a good idea? Tal, Kp, Altinweg, J9?? And any others?
starlite1
Jun 3, 2008, 05:37 AM
Guys this is great!! I am up for flying anywhere. Like I have stated I am in Long Island (Levittown) NY so it doesn't matter where we go.
I agree Polska, LETS DO IT!! Name tags would be so cool too! Oh Man, this is going to be great! In the next few weeks or so we can all collectively come up with a place! Heck if my apt. wasn't so small, I would have everybody there! LOL! I am so excited for this..
Romefalls - no worries.. We will be gentle with you LOL! (just kidding :-) )

Hi Chery!
That is so cool that you have traveled and lived in those places. (I am jealous :-) ) We would love for you to be with us, but understand completely. Even though you may not be able to be there physically, we know you are right there with us, and vise vera :-)
By the way - I love the picture of you and your kitty cat. I am a huge cat person, and unfortunately lost my baby 3 months ago. He was my life.. and he kind of looked like your baby.

Thanks starlite.. mx 'baby' is going on 18 years and he's more lapdog than cat. He even sits on my lap when I'm on the potty. He's the only 'man' in my life that I allow to cling to me because he deserves it. He's always there in good times and bad and does not demand much - just my love and I gladly give it.
That's another reason I don't leave home much, because he acts up and pretends to barf when I get dressed to go shopping.

That is a great idea Rome. We can have several get togethers in different locations at different times.

I'd love to go to Germany, I have blood family there, but it's a bit expensive.
Going to California in September, but only for a short time.
Anywhere in the US is probably doable, just have to make sure hubby's okay with watching the rugrats while I'm gone, oh and the dogs, and rabbits, the bird and the fish.:)
This is a great idea.

Can't do late August, my daughters birthday is then, and early September is my sons birthday. I'm going to LA in around the second week of September. Also, have a problem, my passport is expired, it takes a while to renew, I live in Canada, have since I was almost 4, but I'm still a German citizen. I have to travel to Vancouver in order to get my passport renewed, that might take a while. I am looking in to getting my Canadian citizenship, but I don't know how long that will take either. You guys plan without me, if I can come I will, if not, then just talk about me when you get together. ;)

Don't leave without me kids! Since a lot of you know my European Cruise has apparently been called off... I need a vacation! I'd love to meet all of my AMHD family! Since my parents have a home in FL. close to Disney, that would be cool... and cheap for me, LOL!
Edmonton would be good Alty, or even Calgary. I haven't seen any Canadian takers so far though!
Some of you know my parents also have a home at the lake, approx 3 hrs from Calgary, Alberta, that has a huge campground! There is boating, jet skiing, fishing, lots of recreation, quite often beer gardens, and entertainment (bands), etc. That would need to be before the end of Sept. but that would be a great place for a lot of people to get together.
This sounds like fun, and I know a whole lot of us that could really use a good vacation, and I would love to meet you all in person, even though I feel like I know so many of you already! :D

Why do you need him to forgive you?. What have you done? ----NOTHING!!

It was suggested earlier in this thread that the members are from all different countries, so to just have one place to meet may not be feasible to all. There is the issue of distance and the cost for sure. Some of us are from Canada, UK, Australia...etc, etc!!
Hi Starbuck,
I have a feeling that this is not going to be the only one. I have a feeling that this is going to be a regular thing (perhaps once a year - each year in a different place).
Depending on everyone's opinion, but call it a hunch :D

Hi Friend!
Cool! Have you ever been to the US?
Yep I have , did the whole LA thing , Disneyland , Hollywood , Universal etc. Then went to Vegas , amazing place , flew into the Grand Canyon and all that touristy stuff. I actually enjoyed it immensly , the funniest part of my trip though was the Americans always wanted to talk to me so they could hear my accent , I used to say I don't have an accent , you guys do :)
Been to Hawaii a couple of times too and that's great!

I got motels down. I know an AWESOME place that not a whole lot of people know about. It's cheap ($45 a night), has a bar, a ridiculous indoor pool, and is 4 miles away from disney. :)
Hi Sneezy,
What's the name of the hotel? We can look it up online and check it out for October.
We all still have to pick a date though.

Ramada Maingate West (http://www.ramadamaingatewest.com/index.html)
... I just looked at prices and realized that prices have doubled since I was there last year, but I have a feeling it's due to the summer season. I always go around October and it's been ridiculously cheap. New building, nice rooms, awesome indoor pool with bar + karaoke too.

I guess it is clear where we have to meet, Nebraska or South Dakota. Central to everone. Lol

Yup, huge mall, wave pool, water slides, mini golf, amusement park, tons of stores, heck we even have a few sea lions and penguins there. I was just there in May and I heard a lot of chatter on how things were slow .
Old Vegas / Fremont St. is really cool and room rates are a lot less.
Only a 5 min cab ride from the Main strip.
