We have a squeaky dryer... after researching several online posts, we decided to try belt dressing. My husband disassebled the casing of the dryer and sprayed the belt with the belt dressing while it was operating... the squeak STILL exists (decided it is the glides that are worn out) and all of our clothes smell like diesel fuel (or belt dressing)... Is there a way to make this go away or have we ruined our dryer forever?? I have little ones that I can't dress!

Try replacing the belt and cleaning all the pulleys and idlers with alcohol

Just clean all belts, wheel, glides, and pulleys with alcohol, to remove the oil film that covers them at the moment, and which is the cause of the smell.
Success!

The reason I suggested replacing the belt is because it is possible for the dressing to absorb into the belt. If it did, you will never get the smell out by cleaning it. This come from experience with the same issue from a service call
