I've seen a few passport related questions on this site and thought that maybe someone might know the answer to this question.
Me and brothers have recently obtained Greek citizenship because my parents were born in Greece, although me and brothers were born in Australia and live our whole lives in Australia. We decided to get Greek passports because I wanted to work in the EU. We went to the consulate and went through the proper channels and applied for our passports, the guy at the consulate said that everything was good and should expect our passports in 6 weeks. 6 weeks pass and me and my brother are rejected but my other brother is accepted and receives his passport. All our paperwork is the same and even the guy at the consulate doesn't understand why we were rejected and the only thing he can recommend is to apply again. Has anyone had the same experience and can tell a reason why my passport could have been rejected?

Passports applications can be rejected for a number of reasons, some of them minuscule. A name misspelled or a country name not written down properly may be the reason, even though the information was the same on all applications. They should tell you where the error was so you can correct it, but when handing in your app, if it is done the same way here, the official looks it over and if they see something wrong, they hand it back to you and you tell what the problem is. I don't know what to suggest other then asking them what was wrong with the application.

It's always indicate in rejection notice that what the reasons are and you can appeal in.. Days.
Take a look... and if it is administrative error, send your copy to verify, etc.

It could have been the photo - a number of passport applications in Greece have been rejected because the person smiles or does not look straight into the camera. If you are registered in a municipality in greece, then you should be able to get a passport.
