Hair straightening chemicals can really burn your hair. It would probably be best to go to a hairdresser, one who has plenty of experience with hair straightening. The hairdresser would know what to do with your hair so that the straightness lasts too. That would be worth paying for.

Have you done a hair elasticity test? Hold a few strands of hair between the fingers and pull gently. If the hair returns back into it's original state then do the treatment. If it remains stretched or if it snapped then you will need to get your hair into good condition. Deep conditioning treatments at least once a week are a must.
Hot oil treatments are good too.
