I'm not sure how this works but let me tell you my situation... I have been in a relationship with another woman for 7 yrs and 4 yrs ago she got pregnant from a one night stand and I have been rasing this child from day one... now up until now the father didn't really know he was the father but at the time he was told my partner was pregnant he wanted her to have an abortion... but she didn't and we raised the child together... now the father has been asking questions about the baby and wants to see her... but before I let this happen I was wondering if I could be put on the birth cert and adopt the baby. I don't want to keep her father away from her but at the same time I don't want the baby taken away from me... please any help will be grateful... and if it helps we all live in CA

Although now same sex couples may be able to get married in California, I really don't think (but I'm not a lawyer) that a female can be labeled as the biological father, until the time genetic engineers can make a child from two females DNA. Unless the father is a danger to the child, he has a right to see his child, but since he is not on the birth certificate he might have to prove paternity to have parental rights.
