Yes a study showed that periods that vary greater than 8 days, mean that the woman has increased infertility-possibly due to not being able to forecast ovulation. Try an ovulation predictor or the billings method-if it is "timing" that's your problem, then these things will help.

My gynecologist prescribed me clomid to conceive pregnancy and to regulate my periods .she asked me to take clomid on 5th day of my periods to 9th day of periods, first month when I took clomid my periods started on time ,on 30th day .(my periods always comes with severe pain).second month I took clomid again from day 5th to day 9th , but that time my periods were 2 weeks late .dr incresed the dose ,and I took clomid again next month .that time my periods came 4 days late with very very heavy bleeding.. ihave never had that type of periods before .now I moved to another city of canada .I have asked my family dr to refer me a gynecologit for 2 months ago .medical system is very slow in canada .im disapponting. What sort of testing did your doctor do before prescribing the Clomid? It is to induce ovulation, although regulating your cycle can be a result of that. Were you being monitored while on it? Having cycles that are longer than the norm can be from a few different conditions... PCOS, for example, is not uncommon and often one sign is irregular and/or long cycles.
Fertility does start to decline in the 30's, for some women even sooner, but that doesn't mean pregnancy won't happen. For most it is a gradual decline, becoming more of a potential concern in the late 30's/early 40's.
Hopefully your doctor will get moving on the referral to a gyn and you can get things going again in your new city. A different gyn may suggest further testing as well for both you and your husband.

Did they actually test to determine if you were ovulating? This would be the reason for the Clomid... not really for regulating cycles, there are other meds specifically for that and Clomid, while used widely, is often used incorrectly... as sort of a cure all if a woman isn't getting pregnant. If you don't need ovulation stimulated, Clomid should not be used. Would be worth discussing when you do get in to see the gyn. If you are having periods, you are likely not pregnant. With your cycles the length that they are... 35 days or more, while it may be normal for some women (some women just naturally have only several cycles a year) it is worth having checked out again when you see the new gyn.
