The collection agency Forster & Garbus has my checking account frozen. It had appeared at my over draft totaling $7,000. There was nothing showing in my checking account though I have direct deposit. I checked with my bank & they told me it was a collection agency Forster & Garbus. They provided me with a phone number to speak to them & arrange a payment plan. When I called the collection agency, they were under another name. They gave me a phone number to a city marshall's office & a case number. Upon calling they told me that the debt had been settled. I have checked with my bank on several occasions & till this date I haven't been able to draw any monies from my account. With all this going on it seems I have been working for free. All my debt have been adding up & I'm at my wits end on what else to do.

Hello Castro57

In order for your account to be "frozen" a judgement had to have been entered by a court in the form of a judgement Did you not know you had a unpaid debt or did you ignore all the calls and letters?
Not meaning to sound harsh but you should have some idea of what this is. Please give us a little more information please

slowandeasy is correct, there has to be a judgment for your bank account to have been levied.

Using the case number, contact the court house where the case was filed. Ask them what they have as proof of service of the original notice of the suit. (Unless you know you were served).

If by chance, they did not serve you properly, you may be able to get the levy reversed.

Either way, you need to find out if they have filed a satisfaction of judgment for the debt, once that is done, the levy on your bank account should be lifted.

An awful lot of loose ends in this situation.
