I am currently not working and haven't been for about 8months.and I am behind on child support.although I am currently inroled to go back to school to get a better job so tat I can take better care of my two kids.I was wanting so information about possibly signing opver my parential rights.long enough to get through school and get back on my feet so that I can not only make a better life for my kids but for myself as well.I current ly have noting and have to rely on family and friends, which I am not pround of.is this something I should be considering,if so does anybody have any idea how to go about it.

A concerned, andworried dad just trying to do the right thing for his kids. Dad from Florida

Signing over parental rights is just a temporary solution, if that. I would let the courts know the situation, and continue with your education to provide the best possible life for your little ones. Good luck!

It really isn't likely that a judge will allow you to sign over your rights at all. I am all for getting a better education but the kids still have to eat and still need cloths, they can't just hibernate while you get back on your feet. I would get a court date set to ask for a review of your case it is possible that your support could be lowered temporarily but all judged that I know of will tell you to work while going to school like sooooo many others have had to.
