I um using ubuntu on this computer and I can't get any sound to work. It is a Dell Dimension 2300 running Ubuntu 8.04. When I do an aplay -l, I get:

card 0: I82801DBICH4 [Intel 82801DB-ICH4], device 0: Intel ICH [Intel 82801DB-ICH4]
Subdevices: 0/1
Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
card 0: I82801DBICH4 [Intel 82801DB-ICH4], device 4: Intel ICH - IEC958 [Intel 82801DB-ICH4 - IEC958]
Subdevices: 1/1
Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
What should I do to get sound out of this system?

Nvm, I found the problem. The sound card isn't as loud as some others so I had to almost max out my surround sound in order to hear it. Thanks for the suggestion though.
