I opened the dryer door and the light burned out. I put clothes in and when I hit start the dryer didn't turn on and the 3 beeps sounded. Unpluged tried again and still won't turn on. Does the light have to work for the dryer to work?

The power for the light is picked up from the door switch. Replace the bulb and if it still does not work the door switch is bad and will need to be replaced. A bad door switch will keep unit from running.
