View Full Version : Why is Obama doing Damage Control with Fl. Voting Jews?

Apropos cue cards up... rolling... and ACTION! And there goes the spin doctor again! Why does he have to go on the defensive to try to explain himself to Jewish voters in Florida? It must show they don't believe his answers about Jews to begin with! How many of those voters do you think actually believed his answers?

Theatre (or theater, see spelling differences) (from French "théâtre", from Greek "theatron", θέατρον, meaning "place of seeing") is the branch of the performing arts defined as simply as what "occurs when one or more persons, isolated in time and/or space, present themselves to another or others."[1] By this broad definition, theatre has existed since the dawn of man, as a result of human tendency for story telling. Since its inception, theatre has come to take on many forms, often utilizing elements such as speech, gesture, music, dance, and spectacle, combining the other performing arts, often as well as the visual arts, into a single artistic form. Modern Western theatre is dominated by realism, although many other forms, including classical and experimental forms, as well as Eastern forms, are frequently performed.

He's campaigning for the general election and that includes Jews and topics that are important to Jewish communities in any State. Do you have a problem with Obama speaking to the Jewish community?? Does freedom of speech bother you?? Do you fear the Black man or the Jews?? To remind you, Obama has endured a barrage of false emails circulating throughout the US. Why? Because some divisive Gentiles, thank G-d not the majority of sensible people on this planet (or on this forum), attempted a smear campaign against Obama by claiming he was against Israel and was indeed a Muslim. Wrong on both accounts and outright lies. The Torah is filled with accounts of justice remedied by explanation. In fact our civil courts run on such a defense system. You really should read the articles you post instead of having thread after thread backfire on you. How do you like those bagels, Sky?? Enjoy Starbucks. :)

Obama said he used to go by “Barry” but then as he got older he thought it was important to acknowledge the other side of his heritage.

Maybe he should change his name to Baruch .

All 3 candidates will be courting different constituencies. I for one am not thrilled that McCain is going to court La Raza. But that's politics.

Florida was a critical state in 2000 and 2004 and Jews in Florida, on average, are older than Jews in other states.

He can claim to be a friend of Israel all he wants to but he will have a hard time keeping the older American Jewish vote in his camp if he says he will deal with people who say they will wipe Israel off the map.
He has recently made comments that no one is suffering more than the Palestinian people;and he has said that Anti-Israeli terrorist groups like Hamas and Hezbollah have legitimate claims. Obama appeared to hesitate when he was asked to name the United States' three closest allies during an NBC debate ;then listed the European Union, NATO and Japan. He added Israel after debate moderator Brian Williams prompted him. These are things that greatly concern the older Jewish voters in this country.

Also Obama made a strategic error in not spending time in Fla. During their primary. He made similar errors in other states he recently ignored that will hurt him if he is the nominee. Since he was not there to address them then yes ; probably the ugly net rumors about him gained a foot hold.

The NY Slimes put it this way :

“The people here, liberal people, will not vote for Obama because of his attitude towards Israel,” Ms. Weitz, 83, said, lingering over brunch.

“They're going to vote for McCain,” she said...

Because of a dispute over moving the date of the state's primary, Mr. Obama and the other Democratic candidates did not campaign in Florida. In his absence, novel and exotic rumors about Mr. Obama have flourished. Among many older Jews, and some younger ones, as well, he has become a conduit for Jewish anxiety about Israel, Iran, anti-Semitism and race.

NY Times Advertisement (http://www.nytimes.com/2008/05/22/us/politics/22jewish.html?_r=2&partner=rssnyt&emc=rss&oref=slogin&oref=slogin)

Florida was a key state in the last 2 Presidential elections . We already know that Fla Governor Crist is on McCain's short list for VPs .

This is the kind of ignorance that fuels the Republican campaign. It's called "fear." The Palestinian people have suffered and suffered greatly because they've been mislead, mainly by her own leadership. Obama has said time and time again in concern of meeting with any group, violent radicals and extremists that is, that he has no imaginative notions, as the Republican party wants to paint his diplomacy. The very few points that any group, no matter how violently wrong they are for their actions, is but a starting point of diplomacy "Tom." I know that's new to your thinking because that dear old Uncle Dubya of the GOP hasn't open a foreign policy door in seven and half years. McCain has to become a diplomat as well at some point in career. His campaigning that he's a friend of Israel taking those silly little cameo photo ops as he wears a yarmulke at the Western Wall, doesn't fly with me. It just make Republicans feel warm and fuzzy on the inside while McCain's on vacation visiting the historic sites of Jerusalem. ;)

You remember those emails you sent out to Jewish voters?? The one's where you said he was a Muslim. The one's where you used his middle name exclusively. The one's where you said he never puts his hand over his heart when he says the pledge. The ones where you say he's unpatriotic, and loves terrorists...

It must have been you who sent out the e-mails you are talking about! The stuff that you name has been all over the news and discussed by plenty of people except you're still trying to find a way to defend his actions even though the people of Florida are raking him through the coals for it and btw he's really squirming now! Instead of spouting off craziness as usual, why don't you go and talk to those Florida people and straighten things out for him and be a real hero!

Just curious about this one, Tom, why don't you think he should court them?

He can claim to be a friend of Israel all he wants to but he will have a hard time keeping the older American Jewish vote in his camp if he says he will deal with people who say they will wipe Israel off the map.

Exactly! Now, if good-minded people would only take this to heart!

He has recently made comments that no one is suffering more than the Palestinian people;and he has said that Anti-Israeli terrorist groups like Hamas and Hezbollah have legitimate claims.

Umm, sure sounds like Pro-Palestine to me and many others, can't see how it could get any closer! You're either Pro-Israel or not. There's no middle way to try to explain your support for the country when you come out so in favor of Palestine.

Obama appeared to hesitate when he was asked to name the United States' three closest allies during an NBC debate ;then listed the European Union, NATO and Japan. He added Israel after debate moderator Brian Williams prompted him.

Thus, he needed the "cue cards" mentioned earlier! And can you only imagine this "Pro-Israel" candidate FORGETTING to mention Israel?! That must have played really well for the Jewish people who were counting on him knowing this, huh! Guess we know the real story now despite the continuous spin to the contrary in an effort to minimize the damage done! This kind of thing has to be an affront to the Jewish people to not be mentioned as an ally without being given cue cards. What in the world was he thinking in an important election year?!

These are things that greatly concern the older Jewish voters in this country.

As well they should!

Also Obama made a strategic error in not spending time in Fla. during their primary. He made simular errors in other states he recently ignored that will hurt him if he is the nominee.

Rebuffing an important state, especially several states, will most certainly come back to haunt him later on. People do not forget who did and who did not come to visit them and thus support them and will respond accordingly when they are at the ballot box. Don't be surprised if Florida and other states go to McCain or people just stay home in apathy due to Obama's indifference in feelings towards them.

Just curious about this one, Tom, why don't you think he should court them?

(La Raza )

La Raza bills itself as a civil rights organization, but the group's name literally means "The Race."They are an organization who's sub membership includes groups like MEChA, one of the most racist anti-U.S groups in the country. Plainly put ;they are reconquistas .Accordingly Colorado, California, Arizona, Texas, Utah, New Mexico, Oregon and parts of Washington State make up an area known as "Aztlan" ;a fictional ancestral homeland of the Aztecs before Europeans arrived .Their goal is to take it back from the US

Their founding principles are found in the preamble of "El Plan Espiritual de Aztlan" (The Spiritual Plan for Aztlan):

"
In the spirit of a new people that is conscious not only of its proud historical heritage but also of the brutal gringo invasion of our territories, we, the Chicano inhabitants and civilizers of the northern land of Aztlan whence came our forefathers, reclaiming the land of their birth and consecrating the determination of our people of the sun, declare that the call of our blood is our power, our responsibility, and our inevitable destiny.. . Aztlan belongs to those who plant the seeds, water the fields, and gather the crops and not to the foreign Europeans.. . We are a bronze people with a bronze culture. Before the world, before all of North America, before all our brothers in the bronze continent, we are a nation, we are a union of free pueblos, we are Aztlan. For La Raza todo. Fuera de La Raza nada."
El Plan de Aztlan (http://studentorgs.utexas.edu/mecha/archive/plan.html)

"For The Race everything. Outside The Race, nothing."
Although they are not the only group in this Rotary Club of Hispanic organizations called La Raza ;they have been the one that has steered much of the Hispanic activism recently .

For McCain to go there is consistent with his overall immigration policy ;which when you strip away the lies he told Conservatives about border enforcement first ;is no different than the open border ;general amnesty policies of the Democrats .

The Republican "boogie man" campaign game is to sit back and not invade Palestinian territory, otherwise they would had already did so. Bushbots and McCainites suggest diplomacy is rather useless, so where's that US action? Oh I see! The action was Dubya making a cameo appearance late in his term to Israel, his peace mission, and McCain taking photo ops at the Wall. Yet they didn't hesitate to go after Iraq, not just once, but twice. Rather I think the Republicans need this tactic kept fresh every election as to instill fear into possible American voters.

Why keep defending a "gaffer"? Besides, being a "gaffer", Obama is weak in national security compared to the great Senator McCain, something that should matter to every American. Therefore, can America afford a man like Obama in the White House? God help us all!

I recall a time, in the not-too-distant past when you thought firmly I was for McCain. Like I said, I bring out all the candidates and their positions to contrast one with the other. The hypocrite is actually you, Babbler, because all of your arguments are weak and could never prove what I asked you to prove! Now!.

Hitler said as much, and many times over. I credit Excon, who's one of the most genuine members I know, had you pegged for the longest. Magprob and others have been onto your euphemistic scheme as well. BTW you lost your composure... again.

If you had any left, Bubba, people might just understand your babbling and ramblings that you do most of the time trying to disguise it as legitimate conversation. All you know how to shoot is your lousy mouth and most of the time it is full of putrid diarrhea you loathsome creature. Now tell me if you figure for much.

You know where to find me. I gave you the directions and I'm readily available 24/7/365.

You're as dirty as the city you live in, no take that back, You're Dirtier!

Pssst... I get dirty from taking the trash out. How about you come out of hiding and provide a moment of straightforward honesty starting with your real first name and that delightful crime free city or town that you reside in?? You want to take a guess on which candidate I was speaking of that comes to sin city regularly for entertainment??

The "great Senator" McCain's strong national security vision is based on Dubya's Iraqi quagmire?? Not having found Osama Bin Laden?? Wal-Mart being guarded by a guy with a walkie-talkie?? The Blood and Crips having Thanksgiving dinner together?? BTW did you give up on Hillary already?? Clinton and Obama are 90% same on all issues, as opposed to McCain. :)

Presidential candidates Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, and John Mc Cain were
Flying to a debate.

Barack looked at Hillary, Chuckled and said, 'You know I could throw a
$1,000 bill out of the window right now and make somebody very happy.'

Hillary shrugged her shoulders and replied, 'I could throw ten $100 bills
Out of the window and make ten people very happy.'

John added, 'That being the case, I could throw one hundred $10 bills out of
The window and make a hundred people very happy.'

Hearing their exchange, the pilot rolled his eyes and said to his copilot,
'Such big-shots back there. I could throw all three of them out of the
Window and make 156 million people very happy.'

I'm voting for the Pilot

BABRAM, the Super Moderator has voiced his concern over the tone of things in this forum. He is right. We can agree to disagree about the election, in an amicable way, and that should be the goal. Sometimes passions run high in the course of discussions and things are said that shouldn't be. This upcoming election has prompted many words to be used, on both sides, that should not have been. I know we can all be civil about this simply because this election is not about us. It is all about the candidates. I do not have a candidate selected as yet with so many changing things happening day-to-day that have a bearing on this election so have presented mho on things about each one so as to give people the opportunity to comment and thus feel the pulse of the voting public from all sides. I do want, however, for the BEST candidate that can truly lead our country forward to get the nod in November. As yet, I have made no decision on who that could be. Experience counts simply because we are dealing with a volatile situation in this country with high prices, jobs disappearing from the scene, healthcare, etc. as well as challenges with other world leaders. That makes many people plenty nervous, thus tempers flair, but I know we have to work to get the absolute best person for the job in the White House, this time around, that will truly work for we, the people, and lead our country forward at this most challenging time.

So, we need to agree to end the personal attacks and concentrate on the elective candidates. I know that there not being a candidate on the Democratic side selected at this late date can be very trying for many, but again, it is all about the candidates and not about us. You mention yourself and "excon". Therefore, I would like to extend the opportunity to hear from the two of you as well as "Magprob" with your thoughts on this matter. I know the moderator would be happy to know that we can continue to agree to disagree but in a respectful way that reflects and demonstrates that we have control over what can be and is a very emotional matter. Thank you for your attention and I look forward to hearing from you and others on this.

I don't know that the moderator is right since having several of my points removed when I see the standard not applied to others. HOWEVER, I know that being a moderator is a matter of objective opinion and that for the most part they do a really good job on this site. Other than that they know how to reach if need be. As long as the site management permits me the privilege to voice my concerns, I will. I mean what I say, sincerely. That's why I give my name, where I live, and post my family pictures. I don't cyber-hide anonymously from nobody and if there's ever any consequence, I'm more than willing to face it.

Now having said all this, I do have better things to do. Memorial Day weekend is a very busy time in Vegas. I woke up round 4:30 this morning and made it into work by six. However, I can see that there was some clientele drop off due to travelling expenses with gas prices at record numbers. The highlight of my day was meeting with Drew Barrymore and her friend Justin Long, both are extremely nice people.

O.k. But I trust we can ALL work on civility to improve the general tone in this forum. This is a no-cost item that users can certainly work towards achieving. Certainly points can be made about a candidate and should be but without the anger, curtness, and other things that detract from the over-all purpose of why this forum is here. We still have not heard from the other parties but I trust they feel the same way and will work towards that goal.

Good luck in your work and great for you in meeting with the celebrities!

We? They're not obligated to respond, but may do so on their own accord. There's an old expression, "to get respect you have to give respect."

Your not in charge of hatchets around here. We rotate that duty and this month it's Tomder's turn. Just kidding, of course! Seriously though you're not in position to demand that grown men, Excon or Magprob, comment on your suggestions. They'll eventually get back to posting on the site. They may be waiting to see your actions in future posts first. I got to go. It's a big checkout day as most of the tourists will be leaving the casino today. I'm off to work :)

Babram, an informal invitation was made to excon and magprob to comment on what I had proposed to tone down the rhetoric, that's all. That was not a demand for them to comment. They are free to do so or not as they feel led. But I think all good men of reason would agree that being cordial instead of spiteful in any forum is what is called for and that which the moderators can truly appreciate. As to my " .... actions in future posts .... ", I believe they know the direction of how things would go with what I am saying here. This is a time of healing to revamp the curtness, impoliteness, etc. that posting parties can often fall victim to. The moderator has called for that also. Again, I kindly ask all to join in this effort for the good of all concerned. Thank you.

Politics + Religion = BIG FIGHT!
I have nothing to appoligize for. Besides, my opinion doesn't matter since I only believe in conspiracies. It's all one big conspiracy I tell you.

magprob

OK, here you go. My conspiracy theory is this: Bill Clinton sits around drinking Scotch, there are no new chicks on the bus, and Hellery is keeping a close eye on him, so he quietly opens his lap top and proceeds to send a few emails, just for kicks.

A series of anonymous e-mails targeted at Jews suggested Obama was secretly a Muslim, took oaths on the Quran and attended an Islamic religious school, all false, and all infuriating to Obama's Jewish supporters.

"There is an organized effort to discredit Sen. Obama in the Jewish community that is more relentless and aggressive than anything I've ever seen," said Alan Solomont, a major Obama supporter and fundraiser in Boston.
