I'm renovating a home in New Orleans and plan to replace all the galvanized water lines with pex. I have had two plumbers inspect the home and they claim you cannot use a home run pex system here. 3/8 and 1/2 inch lines cannot be longer than 10 feet per code. Can anyone tell me if this is correct... Thanks for your time

(Question moved from Introductions to more appropriate topic area in order to get the most exposure to those best able to answer the question. Introductions is for people to introduce themselves and we try to not ask questions in that area. Thank you!)

SC997:
I have never heard of such a thing... but when I hear that two plumbers came out and BOTH quoted the same thing to you about the 10 FT rule... well then maybe they have some local code in place that I don't know of.
If you think about the home run system in a two-family home you can see that installers typically run homeruns that exceed 10 feet all the time!
Anyway, call your local plumbing inspector's office... and ask him about this code requirement.
For further information you can click on this link below... brings you to a PEX manual with more information than you ever wanted to know... ;)
