Start, settings, control panel, system, then hardware tab and device mgr.
Go down the list, you probably have a yellow mark next to an audio device
Right click on items that have yellow mark next to them and choose, uninstall and say OK
Now if you do not have any yellow marks, click on the plus sign next to sound/game controllers and reight click on you audio device/driver and shoose uninstall
Once sound drivers are uninstalled, close all windows and then restart PC
On restart, windows will install a generic sound driver that should work for you
Once back in windows check your sound
