You have 2 different issues here...
First, apply for French Passport. You don't need immigration stamp but you need your green card.
Second, contact local police and report the lost documents, make copies of this police report.
Then contact US embassy in France, report the incident and request for the so called "Transportation Letter" for yourself.
You will need copies of the following:
* Statement explain the situation in your own words.
* Police report
* Green card (back and front)
* Birth Certificate
* Form I-90 (download from USCIS Home Page)
* Passport
* Airplane tickets
* 3 Passport size photos
* Fee $290
This approval is valid for 15 days only, so this will allow you to return to US.
Personal Note: When travel, make copies of your documents such as passport, green card, driver's license, etc. and have one in your luggage and one in your carry-on. Put the original copy in the hotel's safe.
