I just replaced a ceiling fan in my room with another.
The previous fan had no remote but did have 2 pull chains 1 for fan and 1 for light.
On the wall are 2 switches. 1 for the fan and 1 for the light.
In the instructions on installing the new fan it only gave instructions for a 3 wire set up including the ground.
My room has 4 wires. 1 black , 1 red, 1 white and 1 bare (ground).
The new fan has no pull chains only a remote.
When I wire the fan according to the instructions there is no placement of the red wire so I leave the red wire unattached and capped off all works fine. ALL BUT the one switch on the wall to turn on the light. And it seems the light either goes on or off with the remote no dimming although on the remote it says dimmer.
I figure that's where the red wire comes in.
My question is WHERE DO I CONNECT THE RED WIRE?
Thanks.
PS: I am not yelling.. just trying highlight the main statements. The fan is a Harbor Breeze brand.
