First off, great Job! This forum is very useful to people like me. I have read the messages posted here since last year and it seems to me that I fall as a resident alien for this year (05) tax purposes as I passed the substantial presence test. Sorry to post the same question again but I just need to double-check to see, if you think otherwise on my situation.

Aug 2002 - Dec 2004 - F1 Student
2005 - Worked full-time as OPT until May
2005 - Working full-time as H1B from May 12 (>183 days physical presence)
Filing status - Single
Citizen - India

So, I need to file 1040EZ and can claim standard deductions ($8200). Please correct me if I am wrong.

Thanks.
Sashi.

Sashi:

Yes, you are a resident alien. Your personal exemption is $3,200 and the standard deduction is $5,000. On Form 1040EZ, they are combined on one line as $8,200.
