My Hotpoint FDW60 Dishwasher regularly flashes its fast and delicate lights. The diagnosis on the web says that it's the heating element.

I think the cycle is not completing properly as sometimes it looks like the contents haven't rinsed properly. The filter compartment at the bottom is occasionally full of water but that may be another problem or a consequence of not finishing the cycle.

The heating element seems to be working fine in that the water gets piping hot (from a cold feed) and the drying cycle works fine. There must be some other reason that it does this.

One forum said that the thermistor was the problem. I'm not sure where that is located to check it.

Any ideas welcome.

After recently replacing the cushioned flooring in my Kitchen and having to move the dishwasher temporarily, it has now been working without this problem everyday for the last two weeks. I can only assume that the problem is due to a dodgy connection somewhere and that moving it has rectified the problem, which I'm expecting will return in time. When it does, I'll unscrew the panel at the bottom of the unit and check the wiring to the heater unit.
