I had problems with my bowel for many years like can go days without bowel movement when I do have a bowel movement its either loose watery or very soft and most times hard to come out I can still pass some gas but not as much as before two months ago I got a cramping pain in my stomach and nausea I just started seeing a GI doctor two weeks ago I also don't know if my abdomen is distended or swollen because last September I weighed 240 without trying to lose weight no exercise still eating a lot and drinking quite a few regular sodas now I am down to 217 but I haven't needed smaller pants than which surprises me my pants still fit the same last August I had Laprascopic Gall Bladder Surgery and I know they made an incision in the top of my navel in the inside of it in June 2000 a little bit higher up from my navel I had Exploratory Surgery for a Stab wound they didn't find anything wrong but I don't know if they looked at my intestines some people say it might be IBS and some people say it might be a partial obstruction what do you think:) :)

IBS is a diagnosis of exclusion. Other possible cause - cancer, crohn's, peptic ulcer, ulcerative colitis, liver failure, celiac sprue etc... need to be ruled out first.

A 23 pound unintentional weight loss is concerning, if you are over 50 especially.

Screening: Colorectal Cancer (http://www.ahrq.gov/clinic/uspstf/uspscolo.htm)

I imagine your GI will recommend some blood work and a colonoscopy.

A prior history of abdominal surgery can later cause adhesions that may obstruct the bowel.

I am only 33 years old I do have a colonoscopy scheduled for June 16th I know my GI doctor also put in for a CT Scan and I saw my GI doctor two weeks ago and she said she was going to get the CT Scan for two weeks from then I didn't have as of last week anything scheduled at the hospital for this week so I called the appointment line it must be the CT Scan they mentioned because I have an appointment for a week from tomorrow at 1:30p.m.

[QUOTE]for the past few days I hardly had any diarrhea or soft bowel instead my bowels are small and hard and more constipated I am constipated each time I have a bowel movement where it takes a few minutes to get it all out I do have pain when I do have a bowel movement now I developed a feeling of fullness below my navel this morning I had extreme pain all throughout my stomach and a little in the center of my chest could this be a sign that the blockage is getting worse when I am more constipated not having any more diarrhea and more pain
