Dear hvac 100,

When you said equipment failure did you mean the central air unit? Question was from SAMMVM

I have no idea how to link to my previous question. Sorry! I am hopeless!

I have central air. Gas furnace and electric air. The furnace is a Goodman & is only a year old. At times this unit will work fine with the heat or air.

However, after a couple days of working fine it will start to mal-function.
The air conditioner will be working properly then after a while I will notice the house it getting warmer.
The air conditioner icon will not be flashing... the fan on the unit outside is spinning---- but no air is coming through. I will turn the thermostat off.

If I turn it back on the a/c icon will flash. However, it just flashes for a long time and then finally you will hear the thermostat click as if the a/c has finally kicked on. Very little air or no air at all is coming through the unit---- but again the fan on the unit outside is spinning as if the a/c is running.
I will turn the thermostat off and wait and wait and then when it is turned back on it will usaully work. The same thinig happens when I use the heat.

I had an outdated Honeywell Thermostatreplaced with a Honeywell Digital non-programable RTH110B. When I have been trying to trouble shoot the problem I see numerous people saying how hard it was to install the wiring on this thermostat.

You told me ( thank you so much) that it culd be a faulty thermostate or wiring or it could be the equipment. Did you mean the furnace?

The circuit board panel was replaced and also the thermostat wiring from the unit to the thermostat was replaced.

OLD POST

I have a GPG13 Single Package Gas-Electric Heating and Cooling Unit (Goodman MFG)
Do not have a heat pump. It is a year old.
I replaced a really old Honeywell Thermostat with a RTH110B Digital Thermostat.

Sometimes my heating/ac will not work properly. The thermostat will have a blinking ICON which according to the manual is a safety feature for the compressor and the cooling icon will flash on the screen until cooling can start again.

Sometimes the a/c will be working fine and then I will notice the house is getting warmer. The icon is not flashing but the a/c is not working. The fan outside on the unit is spinning as usual when it is turned on. Sometimes no air coming through or it is with such little force you can hardly feel the air and it is not cool. I will turn off the thermostat and wait and wait and finally it will work again. Sometimes the unit will work for a couple of days with no problem at all.

I have had trouble with the heat not kicking on also. Both in a/c and heat you can hear the thermostat click like it is kicking on ---- but nothing happens.

The circuit panel has been changed and also the thermostat wiring from the unit to the thermostat was changed. Still having the same problem.

Could this be a faulty thermostat?

OLD answer

It could be the thermostat
It could be a bad thermostst install. (wiring problem)
It could be a equipment failure.

READ

Section 3 at 3.1 for fan sign

Note: When you place the thermostat in Cooling mode, you might need to
Wait up to five minutes before cooling can start. This is a safety feature for
The compressor. (Star) will flash on the screen until cooling can start again.

Here is your answer for the cooling.

Here is you BOOK on the thermostat read it.
