How do I change political party affiliation in New York?

I don't know how it works there but I don't worry about it in Ontario, I just vote for the party that promises to give me better benefits. That changes my party affiliation. Does it work differently there ?

To change parties in NY you need to fill out a new registration form.

Request an application by phone by calling 1-800-FOR-VOTE and mail it (Step 6) to your county Board of Elections.

Or

Print out this on line form and mail it to your local county board of elections

Make sure you fill out your party affiliation preference.
