I have a 95 escort lx and the speedometer cable was broken, and the connection that connects to the transaxle where the speedometer cable goes is clogged from the torn cable from the previous one. Is there a way to remove that connection, so we could put the new speedometer cable in properly? It's a 1.9L, automatic, 4-cylinder. Any helpful information would be greatly appreciated.

If the cable is one piece from the speed-o to the trans it should go to the trans gear and that should come out by unbolting it from the trans
