Hi Pretty lady,
You seem like the girl to ask on this one. I used an ash colur but still find myself with a red/orange tinge. Any advice on how to dampen it down or for future dying ?
Thanks in advance

Which colour was it that you wanted to achieve? And what was your natural hair colour?

Thanks for your answer.
I was blond as a child that grew into light brown now. I was trying to get rid of the grey and just looking for something that would cover it to be honest without looking too obvious. Clearly didn't want the ginger red tones though and am surprised as I thought the ash colour wasn't supposed to do this. Aany thoughts ?

How much white hair hairs did you roughly have? 20%? 50%? When trying to cover white hair you need to mix and match around a bit.

About 30%
Can you explain your mix and match comment ? P.S I have short hair
Thanks again

The reason some of your hair turned out red/orange was because you had some white hair. As you have roughly around 30% white hair. You will need to mix 25-30% your natural base colour with the target shade. A base colour is the one with the 0 at the end of it such as 4/0 (black), 5/0 (dark brown), 6/0 (medium brown), etc. So let's say for an example you need to use 30mls of colour, so 25-30% of that mixture should include your natural base shade, and the rest should be the target shade. And then 30mls of 20 volume peroxide (6% strength). I know it's a bit confusing!
As you've already coloured your hair and got some unwanted tones, you will need to strip it out. Perhaps with a colour remover. Please, if you can, go and see a professional.
