I purchased a westie nearly 2 weeks ago (he his nearly 11 weeks old) but last night I noticed that he pooped there was a little drop of blood towards the end when he was finishing. He is very lively and there is no change in his behavior or his eating but I am concerned about this. He has had his first injection and has also had stonghold for fleas.

I would appreciate any help and advice that can be offered

I went through bloody stools with my dog for along time... and never got a straight answer.. but was told it could be several things... worms.. irritable bowels.. parvo... the list went on and on. I suggest getting a culture done.. to ease your mind, and also because your puppy is so young.. a condition could spiral out of control rather fast... good luck!

Red blood (as opposed to dark, chocolate colored) usually is from the lower bowel. It looks scarier but is usually less serious. The pup should definitely have a fecal run, but it may just be an irritated colon due to hard stools, change in diet, etc. Get it checked out ASAP, but don't panic.
