Are there any ill affects created by using a mixture of hydrogen peroxide and baking soda, rather than a commercial toothepaste?

You may want to check out a all natural toothepaste, our local walmart carries it

Tom's of Maine - Naturally, it works. (http://www.tomsofmaine.com/)

Homemade paste

Try Kiss My Face toothpasste. I tried Tom's and was not happy with it. I use the whitening kind from KMF and my teeth stay squeeky clean all day. Has no fluoride in it. It can be bought at most health food stores. I've tried everything under the sun and like this the best.

Jeanmarie,
Brushing with baking soda every day is like cleaning your bathtub with Comet every day. You will eventually scratch the enamel surfaces. Hydrogen peroxide had been linked to oral cancers a few years ago so again that should not be used on a regular basis.
Fr_Chuck and twinkiedooter have made very good suggestions for commercial toothpastes that are better and safer to use.
