Hello,

I am currently working on H1B visa. I have obtained admission into a full time MBA program that would require me to go to F1 Student status. However, my employer has offered me a leave of absence so I may be able to return back to them after my MBA. In this situation, do I need to change my H1 status to F1 status or can I pursue my education on an H1 B visa?

Thanks a lot for your help.

You have to change your status to F-1, and you can resume H-1B once you're graduated.

Thanks for your reply. I imagine I would again have to go through the H1B quota and selection process before I would be able to work again, or would my change of status happen through any different process?

If you finish school and want to get back to work,
You will need to go through selection process like all other applicants.
But years limit on H-1B resumes from where you changed your status.
