Ok, let me make sure I understand this correctly. You have two ceiling fans with remotes.. . But everything is all set to the same frequency, so either remote will control either fan. All of a sudden, BOTH remotes stopped operating BOTH fans. Am I correct?
The problem with remote control ceiling fans is, and this should be evidenced by the posts in this forum, they are very fickle. And when something goes wrong they are tough to diagnose and often times the only repair option is "buy a new ____"
How do you know it is the remotes that are the issue? When you push a button on a remote, does the LED still light? Is there any reaction at all from the fans? Are the fans (and their lights) not coming on at all, stuck in high, can you get them to spin or light at all, etc? Lastly, are these remote and receiver kits that can be bypassed, or permanently installed receivers? Do the fans have pullchains?
Here is the basic troubleshooting for ceiling fan remotes:

Try some of the options on that page, such as changing the frequencies. But both fans and both remotes at the same time is quite a coincidence.
