I work part-time in retail in Tenn. File M-0. They are not taking any Federal Taxes out of my pay...even when I gross $150. I asked that $10 additional dollars be deducted, so that is all they are deducting..no other amount. I believe that is incorrect as I owed Fed Taxes for 2007 due to this. I need to find out how much they SHOULD be deducting. It is a corporation and I've gotten nowhere calling the corporate accounting office to resolve this issue.

Hello Simon,

What your company is withholding is correct. Go to IRS.gov, look at the tax chart on page 37 - making 150.00 weekly or 300 bi-weekly the withholding amount for M-0 equals 0.00 then you add your additional amount of $10 ithat s exactly what is being withheld.

You may want to fill out a new W4 increasing the additional amount OR you can claim single and 0 exemptions and your additional amount. Using single will calculate taxes to be withheld --on the W4 there is a box for married filing at the higher single rate.

Hope this helps!
