I have been dying my hair black from brown for a few months now. I have recently got bored of black and wanted to go back to my natural colour if not a bit lighter.
I have tried dying my hair a lighter shade, however it didn't change the black and only coloured my roots a sort of reddish colour, to which I re-dyed it again a dark brown colour.

I've heard of the colour stripping products (Color Zap etc. ) but I don't know if they would work on my hair because I have been dying it black for a while, my hair is in quite good condition for coloured hair, and I have been told that if I strip it, it will completely destroy my hair.

Anyone have any ideas ?
Your help would be greatly appreciated :)

Go to a hairdresser. From what I understand you will have to strip several layers of color and 99% chance that if you do it yourself you will be all ready for Halloween with bright orange hair. Have you thought about low-lighting while the color washes/grows out?

I used OOPS COLOR to remove red from my hair. It did not return my hair to it's natural color (brownish-black) but made it a light mousy brown. It is not meant to return your hair to it's natural color if it has been lightened.

You could just shave your head and wait for it to grow back in it's natural color. SWome women are really hot with very short hair!!
