I am 26 years old and ever since I started my period they have been irregular. Sometimes I get it monthly and some months not at all. I have seen doctors and once I was even taking birth control pills to regulate my period but it became tiresome to me. I wasn't told that I have any health problems but I am beginning to wonder what the cause of my irregular periods are. Does it mean that I am infertile and will never be able to have children?

Some women are just irregular. It's just their nature.

There could be many other health reasons for irregular periods, but those need to be diagnosed and confirmed by a doctor.

It does not in any way mean you are infertile. I have always been irregular, 2 periods a year to be exact, and I have 4 beautiful children.

Why would I still be having irregular periods when I have been on birth control for nine years?

Have you been on the same birth control? It may be time to change.

Well I have auctually changed my birth control several times. I have been on the kind I am on now for about a year. I have not had a period this month? I am beginning to become very concerned because my period is so irregular. I find myself buying pregnancy test all of the time. Could there be something wrong with me? My husband and I do plan to have kids in a couple of years, and this situaiton makes me wonder if I will even be able to have kids? Should I be concerned?
