Okay the other day I wanted blonde highlights so I went to a salon... I hated it my hair looked bad... I miss my natural light brown hair.. I died my hair brown but its too dark I don't want to keep damaging my hair... how can I get it to fade to a lighter brown will shampoo and baking soda help?? If so will it bring the highlights back out or will my dark brown just fade?

I've heard that Heads and Shoulders shampoo helps with the fading. I've also heard this shampoo is really horrible for your hair.
Hot Oil treatment helps to fade hair color as well, and that is really good for your hair.
Hope this helps.

You can try fading it out by using clarifying/deep cleaning shampoos. If your hair is damaged it will fade out quicker.

Such as... what sort of shampoo? Give a brand name, please.
I'm sort of in the same situation. I let my boyfriend pick out my hair color, and before I realized it was BLACK and not dark brown, it was already in my hair...
I want to fade it so that I can later do some lighter brown and perhaps some highlights.

I have the same problem,I used vosene shampoo yesterday and loads of dye came out and its been about 2 weeks since I dyed my hair so I would definatley recommend vosene if you want to fade hair.

Oh and head and shoulders IS really bad,I started to go bald after the first use! The head and shoulders conditioner is fine though and makes my hair feel nice.

Pantene do a clarifying shampoo. I've used that a few times. It's quite good. Also Nu:u do one.
One of my work mates told me vosene takes off nail varnish! Not sure if it's true though @ janinereed

Anything that can be used as a nail polish remover I don't want to be washing my hair with.

It's a medicated shampoo that can be used every day so I doubt it's that bad for your hair plus my hairdresser recommended it as well as loads of other people on this site. It worked for me but it might not work for everyone.

I'm wondering what it is with dandruff shampoo that fades hair color?
