I have a Craftsman Garden tractor that I use to help plant my garden. The engine was replaced by my Grandfather in 1991 and is a 16HP Briggs & Stratton. At the end of last season I remember once the tractor got "warmed up", especially on hot days, it would start to die when under load. I would let the tractor idle for awhile and it would be fine but as soon as I put it under load again, it would start to die again. Any ideas on what might be the problem.
Thank You
Casey

Could be due to dirty air filter or dirty fuel filter or water {condensation} in the fuel Try changing fuel and air filters and putting in fresh gas My tractor is a Ford diesel and will act up when the fuel filter is clogged. Also check oil level. Some will automatically shut off if low oil pressure. Pull out the spark plugs and clean or replace them and regap.A more expensive compression test will tell you if the engine is just worn out again or maybe you need valves or something to restore the horsepower it once had.
