I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction. My husband and I are trying to locate information on his biological father. This is not a case of "he got her knocked up and took off". My husband's mother was married to an abusive man and took comfort with my husband's biological father.

I know that his father's name is:

Burgess Lee Worrell
DOB - 8/31/1934
DOD - 5/20/1972 (would like to find a newspaper article or something about his death. Died in motorcycle accident - location unknown)
Buried : Holly Lawn Cemetery, Suffolk, VA
Served time in prison in Maryland, approximately 1950's
We know that he got married and had two children, a son Burgress II and Susan.

We are running into road blocks because my husband carries the last name of his mother's husband and not that of his biological father. My husband has been having some health issues as of late and we just want to get some medical background.

We do not want to upset anyone's life, or find any other relatives who want to borrow money or "crash out" for a while. But we have come to complete dead ends.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to where to try next?

You can try here
NewspaperARCHIVE.com Registration (http://www.newspaperarchive.com/RegistrationLockdown.aspx?ctl=multisearch&returnurl=%2fSearch.aspx&lname=worrell&fname=Burgess)
Good luck!

I find nothing on free sites - I find a number of people with the same name on paid sites. I also find a number of "Susan Worrell's" and no Burgess Jr. or II.

Have you tried asking the cemetery - some are more cooperative than others.

You can always hire a private investigator -

Thank you to both of you. I found a reporter in Suffolk Virginia who found the front page article about his death. I have contact the library and they are going to be scanning a copy (along with the obituary) from the microfilm pf the newspaper.

With the exact location and date of death we have been able to proceed a little further in trying to get more information.

Now if anyone has any advice on trying to get medical records or medical information, that is the step we want to head in next.

Thanks

You may need a Court Order after you prove the need for the records - the release of medical records has really become strict, partially because of HIPAA. My stepdaughters wanted my husband's medical records and they could not be released to them because I am the surviving spouse and the hospital and Doctors did not have my signed consent.

I was able to get them by signing an Authorization and providing a copy of my Certificate of Appointment as his Executrix. Obviously I can then send copies wherever I want to send them.
