I am about ready to install my new tub. I was wondering the best way to do it. I have access to the trap and drain from the basement. Should I install the tub first, then match up the trap and drain? I was thinking about setting the tub in without actually securing it, then getting the trap and drain installed, then securing the tub. I have a flexible trap since the space is limited.

Is the tub fiberglass or cast? Withgood access from the basement I'd set the tub first and then match my trap.

The tub is fiberglass. I broke my back taking the old cast iron tub out, not putting another one of those in!

When I set tubs and shower pans I put about 20 big globs of modified thinset or drywall compund on the floor evenly spaced the set the tub. Fill it half way to the top and let it sit for several days, no creaking ever.
