I would like to know where do I go and what tool would be used to break the padlock on my bicycle chain. I lost the key and would like to use the chain again and buy a new padlock. Thanks

Take the serial # to your local hardware store and they can order a key for you or call a locksmith

A bolt cutter can cut the last link in the chain and often the lock itself.
It can depend on what type of lock and how heavy it is.

I want to update you on what happened. The locksmith was able to make a key from my info. You told me to give and my lock popped open and I don't have to buy another chain or lock. It cost $15 but it was worth it because my chain is much stronger than the ones they sell in stores today.

Just safety, those little locks they sell in places like walmart does not even slow the theft up, they cut them faster than you can open it with a key, or they have a tool that just pops the cheap locks open, In Atlanta they steal them daily off all of the college campus

Yes, it is a pretty bad area where I live now. When I first moved here my house was robbed. Now houses are getting robbed all the time around here. Cops lock them up and more keep coming. At first it was just kids, now its kids wanting drug money. Where do you live? Why would you be surprised?

Fr Chuck thank you for your input. My husband wants to buy a new bicycle to save on gas... kids are getting arrested for carring bolt cutters in their pants. Crime has gotten worse and doesn't seem to ever be letting up any time soon.
