My son's biological father never signed his name on the birth certificate. Years ago I went to family court to get child support & took documents to begin the process but I never continued with it. Seven years later Im happily married and my son wants to have his stepfathers last name. My husband wants to adopt him but we don't know how to go about or the cost of it or will there be a problem since I began years early child support process. Help
:confused
The father has not had contact with my son since he was 5 months old, he lives in another state and I have heard from sources he denies my son as his child. Even with this knowledge will I still have to seek him out? Even if he is verbally denying him?

The ONLY problem you will encounter is if the bio father objects. To clear the way for the adoption, you need to terminate the bio father's rights.

What you should do is consult with a Family Law attorney who will prepare all the paperwork for you, including what's necessary for the TPR.

As to cost, it varies widely, but probably in the $1K-$2K range.
