If a husband and wife move from Arkansas, settle in California and then divorce, are they once again considered first cousins?

Huh?
Were they first cousins before they got married?
In which case, they would still be first cousins and a divorced couple (ex wife, ex husband)

I think it is a joke, like everyone in Ark marries their cousin.
The worst ( or funnist) marriage was where a mans father married his sons ex wife. She actually left the son for the father.

Hi,
Yes, you are still first cousins.
People in different states DO marry inside their families, and some just have sex inside their families! The children are usually "deformed" in some ways. I have seen this happen, and have seen the results.
I won't mention the State I am sure this happens, due to not wanting to put forth a bad image of that particular state.

A lot of the studies I have read about first cousins getting married
( and God it scares me that there are actually studies of this) have shown that merely being cousins doe not lead to a real large level in the increase of birth defects.
Sorry I don't have the publications but it came out last year.
I think most of the major southern states gets those types of jokes,
W VA, TN, GA, Al, Ky AK all get their share.
I lost a few teeth from a bone issue last month, I got all of those jokes about finally looking like I was from TN, it made it easy for me to spit a chew now and so on.
