Hi all, OK I just found out I was pregnant in April. I went to the hospital for my pregnancy test and after it came up positive the nurse told me I had gotten pregnant on 2/22/08
( which is the first day of my last period), I tried to explain to her its impossible because I never had sex in January nor February because I had gotten married on March 11th and we had sex for the first time that night. But she insists on saying that date. Can someone please explain that to me? And what would my due date really be using the date I know of. And I haven't had an ultrasound yet but she used some sort of wheel to determine it.

Those "wheel" things can and are wrong all the time. Only you know when you had sex, not the nurse... unless you had sex and you don't remember just when. The wheel thing is used to determine the probility of the date using your menses as a guide. They kept insisting that I was not as far along as I was when I had my son. I was actually one month late when he was born. You know your body, they can only guess. She is just a nurse, not God.

Go to this site and put in the day you believe. It should be based off your last known period, so sometime in Feb is correct. It doesn't mean you had sex then. That is just when the egg was released and starting the process to be pregnant. She should have been more helpful when telling you when and why it was. If you still have a question about this let me know. Good luck and congratulations!

The due date is estimated from the time of your last period. The time of conception could be anywhere between then and when your next period would have been due. They're not always accurate, but they're usually quite close.

They go by the first day of your last period because women ovulate at different times of their cycles. I was given at least five different due dates... in the end I was induced at 38 weeks...

Congratulations!!

The most accurate way to find your due date is called Nagele's Rule. You subtract 3 months and add 7 days from the first day of your last period.
